Surrogacy exposed
Jonathan was approached by a 'source' who told him that Britain's most prolific surrogate mother had accidentally got pregnant by her partner rather than the sperm donor dad. A deal was done with the Mail on Sunday and the 'source' retained their anonymity.

Father's fury at the mother of all mix-ups

A businessman who thought he had fathered a child by a surrogate mother has been shocked to discover that the baby is not his- but the son of the surrogate mother’s own partner.

The 51-year-old building firm owner paid £10,000 so that Britain’s most prolific surrogate mum, Carole Horlock, would conceive using his sperm through artificial insemination.

It was Miss Horlock’s ninth surrogate pregnancy for a childless couple and when the baby was born she happily handed it over to them.

However, as the baby grew the couple noticed a striking resemblance to Miss Horlock’s own partner. Their fears were confirmed by a paternity test which showed that ‘their’ son was actually not related to them at all.

The furious couple have threatened legal action and have demanded that all of the other eight babies carried by Miss Horlick are DNA tested to confirm their paternity.

The case has caused chaos in the world of surrogacy, which for 20 years has operated in a twilight zone where paying for babies is illegal but handing over £10,000 for ‘reasonable expenses’ is allowed.

Bizarrely, part of the expenses paid to Miss Horlick for her ninth baby was a JCB digger.
